Cool LED Light
April 19, 2023
Herman Miller, the makers of some of the most iconic furniture of the past 100 years, have worked with designer Yves Behar to create the Leaf light, a new LED (light emitting diode) table top light. Leaf has won awards for its ground- Breaking environmental and design credentials, including a place in London's Design Museum and New York's MOMA collection.
Cool to Touch: Leaf manages heat differently; unlike other LED lights, its LEDs stay cool through the use of a proprietary heat distribution system. Intelligent and Flexible: Leaf can extend and swivel up to 180 degrees to function as a spot With separate touch controls at the base, Leaf allows you to manage both the light intensity and colour, changing from cool white to warm white, and remembers its last setting when turned off.
Environmentally Friendly: Leaf uses fewer resources to give light. On average, Leaf's LEDs consume nine watts of power, have a lifespan of over 60,000 hours and cut energy use by 40% compared to compact fluorescent lights. The light has been developed according to Herman Miller's demanding Design for the Environment (DfE) protocol and is 95% recyclable.
Michael Murphy, Brand Manager Lighting, Herman Miller says: "With Leaf we have created more than just a light. Its sculptural design pleases whether it is turned on or off, and its unmatched user control gives you a tool to personalise your atmosphere.
Yves Behar says: A fusion of technology with humanity, Leaf is designed to give people a spectrum of choices to express the light's magical and sensory variations. It also engages the human senses by allowing choice of the intensity and colour of light that best suits a Functional need, mood, or location.
