Davao City, Philippines is considering replacing all existing street lights with LED lights

According to Philippine media reports, the Davao City Council of the Philippines is now considering converting existing street lights into "energy-saving" lights. Sara Duterte, the daughter of Philippine President Duterte and the mayor of Davao City, made a number of legislative requests in his municipal address, and the street lamp project was one of them.

An announcement from the American Lighting Science Group stated that LED luminaires have "excellent visibility and color accuracy" and therefore provide safer conditions for drivers and pedestrians. Compared with standard high-pressure sodium lamps, LED lamps consume only 40% to 80% of electricity.
Bernard Al-ag also said that Davao City would pay about 18 million pesos (about 2.35 million yuan) a month for electricity costs for street lights . By using LED lights, the electricity bill to be paid in Davao City can be reduced by 30% to 40%.
