The trend of environmental protection and energy conservation has accelerated the expansion of LED applications. Not only the growth potential of display and lighting applications is attracting attention, but also the application of consumer products such as toys, stationery, general-purpose lamps, etc., and the long-term development of the LED industry is full of vitality. Among them, LED lighting is still large due to the difference in cost from traditional light sources. It is generally expected that LEDs will be popular in general lighting for 2-3 years, but public works such as LED street lights have taken the lead in the policy of promoting energy conservation and power saving. The Standards and Inspection Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan has also completed the development of LED streetlight standards. However, due to the actual measurement time of 4,000 hours, it is expected that the list of qualified manufacturers will be released in the first quarter of 2009.
In 2008, China's mainland China has successively launched a number of LED energy-saving lighting demonstration projects to make the LED business opportunities shine. In order to allow the government and the private sector to purchase LED street lamps, the Standards and Inspection Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan also refers to the LED road lighting demonstration product specifications developed by the Energy Bureau and the LED lighting standards and quality R&D application integration plan of the technical department. The five industrial standards announced, as well as relevant international technical data, in the early days of December 2008, officially announced the CNS15233 LED road lighting standards under the cooperation of industry, government, learning and research.
Although some LED street lamp manufacturers said that the requirements of the LED street lamp efficiency in the standards set by the Standards Inspection Bureau are difficult to achieve. That is to say, after the LED street lamp has been dried and lighted (1,000 hours), it will continue to be lit under normal conditions. After 3000 hours, the beam maintenance rate shall not be lower than 92%, and the luminous efficiency shall not be lower than the standard value of the Standard Inspection Bureau. The characteristics of LEDs will cause light decay with time and high temperature. Therefore, it is difficult to maintain a certain luminous efficiency after the LED street lamps are lit for 4000 hours.
On the other hand, the manufacturer believes that in the LED street lamp durability test, the product must be continuously operated for 360 hours in a 50C2C environment, and the measured luminous flux value is measured after the end of the experiment. Testing the reliability of LED street lights in high temperature environments is also a major test for manufacturers.
However, although there are still many things to be overcome in terms of product standards, government units have taken the lead in promoting energy-saving projects, and these LED energy-saving lighting application opportunities have officially surfaced. The manufacturer expects that with the clarification of business opportunities, the manufacturers' research and development of product improvement will be accelerated. It is equal to doing side-by-side correction, which will accelerate the use of LED street lighting and accelerate the adoption of products.
Among them, the Taipei City Government selected 52 盏 LED street lights in the 228 Park and surrounding roads, and replaced the original 250 watt mercury lamps into 125 watt LED street lights, which was completed in mid-December 2008. The specifications of the LED street lamps installed by the institute are produced by the ITRI counseling manufacturers, and their brightness, illumination and standards are in compliance with regulations. It is estimated that the energy efficiency will be as high as 52% and the cost will be about NT$2.5 million. In addition, the Taipei City Government will also replace the park lanterns 200 miles in 2009 and replace them with LED street lights, which are expected to cost NT$6 million.
Under the premise of the government expanding domestic demand, the remaining counties and cities in Taiwan have recently launched energy-saving lighting projects and launched LED street lamp replacement plans. At present, the Energy Bureau has compiled a budget of about NT$200 million to NT$300 million for the 2009 annual budget. After the passage of the Legislative Yuan, the LED streetlights will be launched in 2009. The local government will apply for demonstration and promotion on at least one secondary road with a pole height of 8 meters or less. Following the 5,000-inch LED standard case in Taichung City in 2008, it is expected that the LED streetlight project that has been opened in 2009 by counties and cities will add more living water to the LED industry.
LEDinside believes that although LED lighting currently accounts for only 3% of the global total lighting market, the LED street lighting market is more limited. But at the time of this recession, consumer demand is weak, and government public spending has indeed ignited a new opportunity for the LED market. However, due to the standard of streetlights formulated by the Standards Bureau, it must be tested for more than 4,000 hours. Therefore, although many manufacturers have already sent samples for testing, it is estimated that the list of manufacturers that meet the standards will be available in the first quarter of 2009. .
What is more worthy of expectation is that since the LED street lamp standard in mainland China has not yet been completed, LEDinside said that the LED street lamp standard in Taiwan will be developed as one of the reference targets for the development of LED street lamp standards in mainland China. Manufacturers in Taiwan are rushing to seize business opportunities in the LED streetlight market in mainland China.
According to statistics, a street lamp is required every 25 meters for road lighting specifications. If all are replaced by LEDs, there are about a million LED street lamps in Taiwan. Even considering the future LED lighting efficiency will gradually increase, and then take into account the cost reduction factors, the overall LED street lamp market in Taiwan still has a potential scale of NT$40-50 billion.
