Compared with the mature LED technology on the market, Zhou Zhuohui said that although the former is more energy-efficient, it is a point source, the spot is concentrated and glare, and the application is not suitable for indoor lighting; OLED is flat light and does not generate high heat. soft. OLED is not only applied to the display, but also can be used as an illumination source, OLED cold light characteristics, and can solve the heat dissipation problem of LED illumination.
He said that instead of choosing white OLEDs, he will step out of the OLED niche market and find two killer applications, including superb color rendering lighting and ultra-low color temperature physiological friendly lighting. He said that the candle-light OLED light source is the first man-made candle light source that uses electricity and does not need to burn hydrocarbon. It has been recognized and published by internationally renowned journals.
Humans have used candles for 5,000 years. In addition to lighting, candlelight is the light source that affects the body's secretion of melatonin. It is also the most friendly source of human physiology, but candles are inconvenient. OLED's pseudo-candle light will not be hot, smoke-free, or fire-free. It is more convenient and energy-efficient to use than a candle, and creates a romantic atmosphere. If it can be mass-produced in the future, it will replace the candle.
ITRI said that the development of mass production machines for OLED-related vapor deposition equipment is expected to enter the testing phase before the end of 2013.
